A Message from Our Founder
Greetings and Welcome to ASCEND Community Partners Inc.! We are glad you stopped by!
ASCEND is a 501(c)(3) organization that helps business leaders and professionals transform their random thoughts and ideas into formal business documents. We assist customers from small business owners who are looking to draft a one page business plan to technical professionals who are looking to develop a prototype for an invention or innovative product idea.
Though our business services have become our core offering, ASCEND is an educational rehabilitation organization. We initially started to help adults among the approximately thirty-five million Americans under the age of 65 with reading skills below those of the fourth grade. They are parents, local leaders, and executives, even with academic degrees, and managing hundreds of people suffering with the inability to read, write, and spell.
Additionally, according to the National Center for Educational Statistics, 35% percent of White U.S.-born adults, 34% percent Hispanic, 23% African American and 8% of other ethnicities in the United States have low literacy skills. Yet, there are very few organizations in our local communities that teach adults how to read.
In May 2020, I was thrust into position where I needed to help three young student who were failing their classes due to situations surrounding the pandemic. Their literacy levels varied, and I did not want anyone to feel embarrassed. So, I quickly develop an engaging and fun literacy curriculum without exposing their levels of literacy. I taught basic literacy to everyone in the morning and helped each student with their schoolwork in the afternoon. By the end of the three weeks, the young students excelled and passed all their classes.
When I witnessed the success of the basic literacy curriculum, I realized I had created a tool that could also help adults without exposing their level of literacy.
From that event, ASCEND Community Partners Inc. was born.
Several months later, ASCEND offered a free basic writing workshop to individuals who wanted to improve their writing during the pandemic. Within a week, the enrollment for the workshop quadrupled the enrollment of all the other courses. After the first session, the workshop quickly became popular.
Over and over, business leaders and professionals unashamedly confessed that writing was not their expertise, and requested services.
The writing service aligned under our mission, but did not fit under our Community Literacy Program efforts to address low literacy. So, ASCEND organized the Business Services Division to help business leaders and professionals fulfill their writing needs.
As of today, service with an personalized, unrushed process, a reasonable turnaround and delivered with an elite customer experience remain our priorities. ASCEND continues to uphold a reputation of delivering high quality service with the utmost confidentiality, discretion, and respect towards everyone.
Regardless of your background, we welcome you to ASCEND.
Sincerely,
Dr. Nicole A. Jones
